Definitives Win World Of Dance UK
World Of Dance UK returned this year and I.C.Movement’s young Prodigy Glenn Hudson led his company to victory for the second time, the first win being back in 2011 when the UK scene were still getting to know about his talents. Heralding from South London, Glenn’s unique and refreshing dance style and masterful choreography was instantly noticed by dancers, and since the day he started his first class he has had a loyal following of people that are inspired by his work.
His company definitives is more a family than a dance company, and with several strong choreographers their performances are always interesting to watch: with different sections often being choreographed by different members in the team, the audience is always taken on a journey of textures and movement ideas.
Aside from being strong dancers and choreographers, Definitives’ stand-out skill is how ‘tight’ they are as a group. Their complex musicality blended with deep groove spell out details and accents in the music for the viewer, without taking away from the ‘feel’ of the piece. Much like watching the intelligent design of nature, where hundreds of thousands of fish or murmurations of starlings seem to move as if guided by a single mind, Definitives execute brilliantly orchestrated pieces.
